I decided to do our little "mini-vacation" in a couple of posts so I don't overload anyone! Every time we go to St. George we just want to hurry and get there. This time there was no reason to hurry and get there, we left on Wednesday morning and Bridger didn't play until Thursday, so I made the decision to stop at Cove Fort on our way down. Bridger wasn't too happy about this (I don't think Jonathon really was either). Bridger was worried about it cutting into his swimming time, but I assured him he would have plenty of time to swim! We always drive by with the intention of stopping the next time, so I thought we ought to do it.
Cove Fort was amazing! Ira Hinckley (Pres. Hinckley's grandfather) was sent there in April and had it finished in November! If you've been there to see it, you realize how impossible this seems. And how dumb am I? I had no idea it was actually a FORT! I just assumed it was a settlement called Cove Fort. It is a huge fort with living quarters all along the inside walls. It is all still furnished with Pioneer furniture, which is all so miniature! Our guide told us that is was small so they could fit it in their covered wagons to cross the plains. By the time our tour was completed, Bridger was so happy that we stopped. He loved it! We all did, I even got a "good idea, mom!"
