more Cove Fort...

This was amazing to me...it shows alot of what a throw-away society we are, and I'm the worst! It also made me laugh because the pioneers were so much better at recycling than we are!

In the corner on the table are sheets made from ticking. When it started to wear, they made pants out of them.

When the pants wear out they tear the fabric into strips.

Then they made rugs out of the strips.

When the rugs wear out they burn them. Then they made lye soap out of the ashes! Heavenly Father knew what he was doing when he didn't send me then!

No kidding! He knew not to send me there, without running water, and great smelling soap(not made out of old pants rugs whatever). I love to go to historical places! I wished I would of known how much I loved history while I was still in school. Sounds like a great trip. Was Haley too cool to go there too?

Cammee, I love this. Thanks for putting up the pictures. Steve said you all went down that way for Easter. I love the recycling, I've always been amazed, even into Mom's generation. She made her coats over into coats for the kids, and in younger pictures, Cheryl is in a certain dress, then Shauna, then re-sewn for me, then it ended up being my childhood Christmas stocking :)
