I had such a great time this weekend running in the Running With Angels 5K with some of the Dean Family. We ran in memory of my beautiful cousin Becky, who passed away 5 years ago. It was very moving to see all of the people there, honoring their loved ones that have passed on. I was so thrilled to be invited to participate in honoring and celebrating Becky. She is an amazing mother, sister, friend and cousin. We miss you Beck!
I tried to get a picture of Jodi, Becky's sister, releasing the doves at the beginning of the race. The doves flew right at us, I couldn't tell what I was taking a picture of--I think I got her elbow in one pic :). So Jodi, in your honor, I'd like to post this picture I took of you...
I didn't know your hand was up your shirt when I took it. I just noticed you and Jared at the finish line and snapped it. I think you might be cleaning the lint out of your belly button. :)

Great Job on the 5k! That is a big accomplishment! I am proud. I'll bet it was an awesome day. Surely this had to bring some beauty into an awful tragedy. Kudos to you and your family for keeping her memory alive. You are wonderful!

Isn't it amazing, the idea to honor a loved one in this way? I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes. How awesome you ran the race too, and Lari biking, Janett in Washington honoring, what a beautiful tribute for Becks. (Our family youngsters are quite often very humbling to me!) And family that just shows up to watch. These are the moments I want to remember, how awe-inspiring it is when family joins together to support and uplift. Your dad reminded me all over again this past week of why I told Andy many times, when he was growing up, that if he patterned after his Uncle Steve he would be a man I could respect. I love your family :)
And Jodi, can't wait to see that Dove you're stuffing in your shirt :)
Seriously... you post THAT picture! Thanks a lot. I wish I would've seen you after the race... I walked over to the finish line to wait for everyone to come in and I missed you!
I'm so glad you came... it was fun to see you. I have some cute pics with you in them so I'll have to email them to you. It turned out to be a GREAT day, rather than a sad one.
I don't know anyone in that pic,except you, and it gets me all emotional! What a tribute to your cousin! Great Job!

I don't think I knew your cousin Becky. But maybe I did as a child. Anyways, what a great thing to do, and be able to do it. Maybe someday... Anyways congrats on a job well done and for a worthy cause!! Love ya!
